Shade Agent

A shade agent in Dew Finance is an account that leverages NEAR Shade Agent capabilities to perform secure, verifiable operations on behalf of the vault. It is the key that grants Dew Finance a more transparent and verifiable execution layer. These agents are granted specific roles within the vault's permission system and can execute policies autonomously while maintaining cryptographic verification of their actions.

Shade Agents provide several key advantages to the Dew Vault framework:

  • Verifiable Execution - All agent operations run inside secure enclaves with on-chain verification, ensuring the integrity of automated vault management functions
  • Transparent Off-chain Operations - Enables off-chain strategies (such as CEX trading or private credit) to be verifiably integrated into on-chain vault accounting
  • Automated Policy Enforcement - Agents can autonomously monitor and enforce risk parameters, trigger rebalancing, or execute strategies based on predefined conditions
  • Trusted Oracle Functions - Can serve as trusted sources for vault valuation, portfolio analysis, and share price updates without requiring external oracles

Each Shade Agent is deployed with a specific role (such as accountant or strategist) and operates within the constraints defined by the vault's policy framework, ensuring all automated actions remain compliant with governance requirements.

Agents are entirely optional and can be implemented at the vault owner's discretion.
